5 Awesome National Siblings Day Activities for Kids

Popcorn Bowl & SnacksHappy National Siblings Day! Every year on April 10, we celebrate our best lifelong friends: our brothers and sisters! All the best memories we share with our siblings start at childhood. So help your little ones create an unforgettable bond with these great National Siblings Day activities for kids.

Have a Just-for-Siblings Picnic

Give your kids one-on-one time to laugh, talk and play over some great food and snacks. Have them work together to fill up a picnic basket with sandwiches, popcorn, cookies, pretzels and any other snack foods they love. Set out a comfy blanket on the living room floor with some toys, pop a movie in the DVD player and let them dig in! They’ll be so excited to have their own private party, and they’ll create memories that will stay with them long after they’ve grown up.

Make Some National Siblings Day Crafts

Instead of having your little ones exchange store-bought presents, show them how to make handmade and heartfelt gifts they can exchange with each other. Help them draw their own National Siblings Day cards and tell them to write what they love most about their brother or sister. You can also get crafty with them and create some popcorn hearts that they can swap along with their cards.

Hold a Sibling Photo Shoot

Every kid should have some great pictures with their brother or sister. What better day to have a sibling photo shoot than today? Don’t worry; you don’t have to go to a professional to get great shots. Make it fun by setting up your own mini studio at home: You can hang up a sheet or tablecloth on the wall for an instant backdrop. Have your kids pick out their favorite outfits or costumes, give them a few cute photo props (like fake mustaches or jewelry), and tell them to strike a pose for the camera together. The sillier they are, the better the pictures will be! At the end of the day, they won’t just be smiling; they’ll also have lots of keepsake photos that’ll make them laugh for years to come.

Play a Sharing Game

Kids love to talk about their favorite things, so why not turn it into a fun game that’ll teach them how to share with their siblings? Tell each child to draw pictures of their toys and stuffed animals—without looking at their siblings’ drawings. Drop the drawings into a bucket and mix them up. Then, have each child pick a random drawing from the bucket and guess who drew it. After the game is done, tell the kids to take out the toys that they drew, exchange them with one another and explain why they love those toys. They’ll have a blast seeing the toys through their siblings’ eyes, and it’ll kickstart hours of fun sibling playtime!

Bond Over a Game of Sibling Trivia

No one knows you better than your sibling, and that close connection starts during childhood. You can help build that bond between your kids by playing an exciting game of sibling trivia. Have them sit in a circle and take turns saying two things about themselves that are true and one thing that is false. They can talk about anything: their favorite TV show, color, food, sport … the list goes on and on. Their siblings then have to try to guess which statement was false. When the game is over, they’ll learn so much about each other that they won’t just be siblings anymore—they’ll be best friends too!

What other kinds of activities will you be enjoying with your kids on National Siblings Day?

College Care Packages for Finals

Hello Popcorn Pals!

The Holiday season is upon us! That means the family is home and together, everyone sitting around the fireplace, cups of hot cocoa, building snowmen, warm sweaters and slippers, and watching holiday movies around the clock…that is, after college finals are over.

Probably the most stressful time of the winter season (next to visiting that one weird aunt), college semester finals are a time when most students will be lucky if they even have the time or energy to get in one good meal. Late night study sessions will extend far later than any campus convenience store stays open, and they’ll need something to refuel with when they get that study break craving. Help out your scholar and send them a light, fun snack that they’ll enjoy!

Thanksgiving Traditions

The Holiday season is in full swing for us at The Popcorn Factory, and certainly with you too! We’re planning so many great things for Thanksgiving and our Winter Holidays that we can’t wait to share them with all of you.

Of course, all of our attention and focus right now is on one of our favorite Holidays: Thanksgiving. Being the popcorn and Holiday savvy poppers we are, we know that Thanksgiving and popcorn go hand in hand!

Popcorn was around for the very first Thanksgiving Day dinner in Plymouth, Massachusetts (and was a sure-fire hit if we do say!) Bags of popped corn were brought to the first Thanksgiving feast as a gift from the chief’s brother. Native Americans made popcorn by holding an oiled ear of corn on a stick over fire and then eating the popped corn off of the ear! Colonists later incorporated popcorn into their daily meals and began using popcorn with milk or cream, and sugar, making it the first known breakfast cereal! (I bet our secret recipe caramel popcorn or kettle corn would be perfect to try this way!) This is just another example of popcorn leading the way in tasty snacks and meals.

Popcorn is the ultimate Thanksgiving tradition, so why not make it apart of yours? Light, fluffy, and made with delicious and innovating flavors, our popcorn complements any occasion or meal. You can enjoy our real buttery popcorn as a before-dinner snack while you’re watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Chomp down on our natural cheese popcorn without ruining your appetite, as you watch and root for the Packers or Lions, Dolphins or Cowboys, and the 49ers or Ravens! (Not to brag, but we hear our popcorn tastes even greater than a win when coming from one of our many NFL popcorn tins that we offer).

Just finished a huge Thanksgiving dinner but you still want dessert? Our secret recipe caramel popcorn makes the perfect post-Thanksgiving dinner dessert. This buttery and sweet combination is a super satisfying treat and goes perfectly with any turkey, potato, or green dish (plus, who are we to shake up a several century’s long tradition of popcorn at Thanksgiving!) Simple and tasty to eat, without putting a strain on an already full stomach!

We’ve been popping since 1979 with fresh, fun, and delicious popcorn flavors, so let us be your popcorn experts this Thanksgiving holiday and get a great snack that you can be thankful for!
